Homemade Christmas decorations

I have decided to be creative this Christmas and started making some homemade decorations. I like to be environmentally friendly in any way I can so that includes recycling. You are probably thinking what is she going to make? Well…I collected our toilets rolls that have been used them to make flower decorations. I had made these a couple months ago but only with 5 petals.

Originally I was cutting the rolls in the sizes I need first, then paint them individually.

But I found it easier to paint the whole roll first and then cut them up after. Of course I painted them Christmas colours red and green.

Add some glitter the edges of one side of each piece, I used gold / silver on mine.

Then arrange 6 pieces into a petal design like below.  Glue them together where they all meet in the middle. To make it easier I pinched the tips of each piece to make one end flatter so they could all meet together, making sure there was no big gap in the middle.

Finished product.

You can put them anywhere, you can hang them, put them on the tree or on the table on Christmas day.

It's getting a bit hot lately and I decided to make these orange juice ice blocks with christmas twist using food colouring.

These photos are taken on my back veranda within the past few weeks. I love being home at that time to capture the photo and if I am not home and its a beautiful sunset and I don't have my camera I just look and enjoy it. This actually happened on Friday where the sun was amazing so I had to use my iphone camera. Love the different sunsets we get from our backyard.

Cool cloud in the sky.

Taken around 6pm after a storm.

Over the weekend I had to go work with our ballkids at two venues for tennis tournaments, first photo from Friday night and the second on Sunday afternoon.

This photo would have turned out so much better if I had my good camera to capture it.
Orange sun taken on my iPhone, forgot my camera :(

We were stuck in traffic on the way home so I got the camera out as we weren't moving.

Mt Coo-tha

Mt Coo-tha lookout view

Last week my friend and I wanted to get some exercise and have a break from our boring Uni study week. We decided to walk/hike up Mount Coo-tha and visit the lookout. At the top is a great view of the Brisbane city skyline.

Me being the keen photographer I am, I took my camera and tried to get some shots. I am not good at it yet, so I use it as practice. I’ll take my camera almost anywhere for practicing. I got my friend to take a few photos of me with the city skyline in the background and some whilst I jumped for a midair action shot. I seem to do that where ever I visit. I think I might make that my thing when I travel to popular places or just anywhere.

There were some massive trees where we finished which was where we started and I thought they might make a good photo. It was quite a hot day that day. Loving the spring weather here. Bring on Summer!

Welcome to my blog. I decided to start a blog so I can talk about and share my favourite things.  I love photography and taking photos on a daily basis. I like to make crafty things and bake yummy stuff, I have actually been obsessed with baking lately. I hope to share exciting things on here, when they happen, like travelling to great places or cool photos I think I have taken and many other things.

until next time!
